பயிற்சி முடித்த மருத்துவ மாணவர்கள் கிராமப்புறங்களில் ஓராண்டு பணியாற்ற வேண்டும் என்று மத்திய சுகாதாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் அன்புமணியின் அறிவிப்பு கடும் எதிர்ப்பை சந்தித்து வருகிறது.

தங்களுடைய கல்விக்காலத்தை மேலும் ஓர் ஆண்டு நீடிக்கக்கூடாது என்று மாணவர்கள் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.

இந்தப்பிரசினை மருத்து மாணவர்கள், இடதுசாரிகள், தமிழக முதலமைச்சர் மட்டுமே சார்ந்த விவகாரம் அல்ல. கிராமப்புறங்களில் வாழும் கோடிக்கணக்கான விவசாயிகளின் வாழ்வாதார பிரசினை.

விவசாயத்திற்கான மானியங்கள் வெட்டு, மின்வெட்டு, நீர் ஆதார பிரசினைகள், மரபணு தொழில் நுட்பத்தின் படையெடுப்பு, மணல் கொள்ளை போன்ற பலவித பிரசினைகளில் சிக்கியுள்ள விவசாயிகளுக்கு நல்லது செய்ய முடியாவிட்டாலும் அவர்களுக்கு கிடைக்கும் அத்தியாவசிய தேவைகளையும் கிடைக்கவிடாமல் செய்வதில்தான் நம் அரசியல் தலைவர்களுக்கு எத்தனை ஆர்வம்?

மருத்துவ மாணவர்களுக்கு பரிந்து பேசும் இந்த அரசியல் தலைவர்கள், விவசாயிகளின் கேள்விகளுக்கு என்ன பதில் சொல்லப் போகிறார்கள்?

i am very impressed by your blog, even though i am not entirely areeing with your view point.
1st...doctors going to villages. my father worked almost all of his medical career as govt doctor,in villages. i went to schools where the class room was some shade under trees.
to a great extent my education was home based.i wanted to do what my father did, but good or bad i didnot get into public service so lost the chance of working in villages.now it is utmost important that medical graduates understand that they are accountable to the patients from whom they learn.however this'going to village law' has already been there, but couldnot be implemented due to our common corruption. my father couldnot even complete terms properly as someone who wanted to do private practice will bribe the local minister and get postings and we will be transferred. this happens even today. so all thsoe doctors who are nto interested in bribing will go to villages unwillingly ,take leave and the system will rot.when apparently there is corruption in getting into madras medical college specifically as a student ,how do you think there is going to be faireness?regarding aptitude, you can assess all that but after graduation in western countries as well the same problem of doctors not going to rural area exists.
if you ask me, first while they are medical students ,they need to learn to respect the poor patients, get their permission to examine, give more rights to patients to agree or refuse to be part of education.
secondly,make medical ethics as a subject should be taught more vigorously.a very good story is sujatha's nagaram. it is so crystal clear to see how docotrs have no clue about the cultural ,economic issues of patients.
three, doctors will go abroad, as life is competitive for them and much more tuff.HOWEVER there is a way of addressing this issue.it is just as govt is thinking of imposing tax on business schools,and iit graduates who leave the country, doctors ,i mean govt students who leave for abroad, should pay after they go to greener pastures.this money can be very well used to address our abyssmall inadequate health funding.

regarding the sidda issue that you have raised in your previous post...

totally agree that quacks should be done with. but did our olden day sidda vaidyars have the qualification that you are talking about. china had a concept called barefoot doctors.these 10th passed people could have very well filled in that role. i am not sure this whole worry about quackery is needed.one of my friends has trained so many +2 passed dalith young people in allopathy based medicine. diagnostics, treatement etc, so that they can be of use to some of our villagers. they are doing good job. they are pretty safe.
the whole issue of money comes because doctors have made medical practice very exclusive.
when i was getting trained there was a famous book which some of us cherished..it is called' where there is no doctor.'i do beleive monopoly has to be addressed.
